Ask retired school teacher Yova Remsen why she loves Elderhostel,
and she’ll tell you without hesitation. “It’s
the great people,” says the 85-year-old Florida resident.
“That’s one of the most appealing things about Elderhostel.”

Wherever she goes, Yova enjoys seeing old friends
and making new ones as she pursues her love of music—an interest
that started with childhood piano lessons and continued through her
years as a music teacher. “I see familiar faces at musical
programs because we are attracted to the same subjects,” Yova
says, adding that she has also attended programs with women she has
met through Elderhostel.
A donor to the Elderhostel Annual Fund since 1985, Yova has also included
a bequest to Elderhostel in her estate plans. “I’m an educator
and believe in education,” she says. “Elderhostel is a fantastic
program for adult education, so, of course, I support that cause.”
Friendship and learning continue to draw Yova to Elderhostel, with music
serving as a vehicle for exploration. “Visiting Minneapolis and
Houston enabled me to enjoy fine music programs, and at the same time
to explore new cities and their art museums,” Yova notes. “And,
I heard The Philadelphia Orchestra in their splendid new performing
arts center. With Elderhostel, I’m always learning.”
