Exploring Cathedrals in Italy   What is a Charter Program?
Charter Programs allow a group to reserve an Elderhostel program exclusively for its members. Chartering a program is an ideal way to bring a community together—for reunions, annual gatherings, or special occasions. Charter programs are the same high quality, affordable programs we offer to our individual participants. Imagine your group discovering the canyons of Arizona or learning to tango in Buenos Aires, studying Michelangelo and da Vinci in Florence or exploring the lighthouses of Maine.

With thousands of programs to choose from and our experienced staff to assist you, the possibilities are endless and the choice is yours.

Who is eligible to charter a program?
Groups of all shapes and sizes are invited to charter our programs.

Participating members of your group must be age 55 and over, although adults over 21 may enroll with an age-eligible spouse or companion. In addition, your group must be able to meet your program's minimum enrollment requirements, typically between 20 and 40 people.

Charter Programs   How do I get started?
We'll work with you to make chartering your program easy. Here are four steps to help you plan your program:

• Log on to www.elderhostel.org or browse through our catalog to find the program(s) you wish to charter. Once you have chosen a program and provided us with information about your group (see below), a member of our staff will work with you to plan your program. Please contact us at least 6-9 months prior to the date of your desired program to insure enough lead-time for us to make arrangements.

• When we have confirmed a date for your group, we will provide you with a Marketing Packet to help you get started promoting your charter. This packet will include detailed information regarding your program's date, price, and registration procedures.

If you wish to personalize our Marketing Materials by adding your group's logo or other information to our materials, please contact us for approval.

• Your group will be assigned a unique program number and code to use when registering.

• Once you have shared information about your program with your group and arrangements are finalized, your members may begin registering for the program through our Web site, by mailing your forms to your Elderhostel contact, or calling us toll-free, at 877-426-8056.

Charter Programs   Does Elderhostel handle transportation to and from Charter Programs?
Elderhostel can include round-trip transportation for International Charter Programs. Your members will need to provide their own transportation to and from programs in the US and Canada. "Since our group lives in states from California to Maryland we think it might be difficult to get everyone registered!"
Charter Programs

Members of your group can register, using a credit card and your program's number and code, by calling us toll-free at 877-426-8056. Our phone agents will gladly assist your members and answer their questions.

What is included in my program? Does Elderhostel provide insurance?

Unlike tourist groups or commercial tours, Elderhostel programs are all inclusive. There are no hidden expenses. In addition to accommodations, we include most meals, lectures, field trips, cultural excursions, and gratuities. International programs include a travel assistance and insurance plan; US & Canada programs include a travel assistance and insurance plan.
