Taken from the newsletter of the Senior College at the University
of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Many of the following questions
would be useful in determining Internet usage among LLI members.
Maine Public Broadcast Network is doing research that will culminate
in increasing interest and finding interactive ways to reach their public
through their website. They contacted the Senior College network with
some questions for their members.
1. How much do you use the Internet in a typical day?
2. Is your Internet connection high-speed or dial-up?
3. Do you watch video over the Internet?
4. Do you consider your Internet use to be similar to, less than
or more than the typical Senior College
students in your classes?
5. Do you know people who do NOT use the Internet?
6. Estimate the percentage of people you know who do not use the
Internet.
7. Of those people who don’t use the Internet, can you identify
ONE reason they don’t use it?
8. Do you use the Internet to find educational resources?
9. Do you use the Internet for communication with other groups
or individuals?
10. Is communicating the most important reason for your Internet use?
11. What else do you use it for?
12. What types of resources would be helpful to you on a future web
site devoted to senior learning in Maine?
