30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION
Congratulations to the Institute for Retirees in Pursuit of Education (IRPE) at Brooklyn College in New York. Their Fall 2007 Catalog of Courses was their 30th Anniversary Edition.

LIRA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS
The Learning in Retirement Association (LIRA) at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, has once again awarded two $1,000 scholarships to students at the University. Congratulations LIRA! This is an excellent way to cement a relationship with your host. To fund this endeavor, LIRA holds an annual auction at their Holiday Party. This year’s auction was a Consumable Auction. All donated items were something you could eat, drink, do, or use up.

20th ANNIVERSARY
The Academy for Lifelong Learning of Cape Cod, Inc. in Massachusetts is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Year. The Academy was formed at Cape Cod Community College to promote an often overlooked resource on Cape Cod – the skills, wit and wisdom of the retired population. The program challenges its members to explore new areas of interest in peer-supported learning groups. It provides them with an opportunity to maintain intellectual vigor in an educationally supportive environment while engaging in satisfying social interaction with their peers. A.L.L. offers over 80 courses in seven locations beyond their home base at the College. More than 700 members are enrolled in the program. Congratulations A.L.L.!

15th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED
The Academy for Lifelong Learning in Saratoga Springs, New York is marking its 15th Anniversary year with the theme of Celebrate Diversity! Carrying out this theme throughout the year, they will be offering diversity study groups, as well as three special free and open-to-the-public special events: a program on Chinese culture in September during New York State Lifelong Learning Month, and programs featuring the cultures and India and Ireland in the spring. Each of these special events will focus on the traditional music, dance, culture and food of a country representative of the population of their area. They are collaborating with local ethnic organizations to bring authentic traditional experiences to the community. Congratulations A.L.L.!

JILL RECEIVES OSHER GRANT
The Jefferson Institute for Lifelong Learning at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville as been selected to receive a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation. They will now be known as the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Virginia. Congratulations JILL!
