The Manager of Marketing Analysis supports Road Scholar/Elderhostel’s goal
of increasing business through database-driven marketing strategies. This
is a very hands-on position and requires the ability to extensively manipulate
and analyze complex database information, write and communicate appropriate
findings, and collaborate with peers across functional areas. The position
is 30% strategic/70% tactical, with heavy emphasis on data, analysis and
process. This position has high visibility in the organization and will have
direct accountability for driving effective campaign strategy and contact
plan for 2-3 product lines. Specifics:
• Marketing Analysis Planning and Execution –Full accountability of
major analytic projects, from planning, development and analysis
to on-time delivery. Scope out major analysis projects and develop
project plans. Develop analytic framework, outline methodologies,
theories and hypothesis. Responsible for data collection, analysis
prep and reporting in support of analysis. May include analysis of
program participation and campaign effectiveness to understand
buying patterns, demographic profiling, cluster analysis;
identification of best audience to mail; test different creative
and segmentation strategies.
• Web Analysis –Responsibility for measuring effectiveness of the web
channel. Develop testing strategy and track effectiveness of web
promotions. Support data integration of web platform and email
platform to marketing database.
• Campaign Management –Establish strategic and tactical plans for campaign
planning of direct mail and email campaigns. Scope out campaign and
project. Make campaign recommendations and direct audience selection,
matching the audience to the offer. Develop scoping documents and get
acceptance from cross-functional teams. Lead the campaign team in
campaign execution. QC the team’s work.
• Communications –Present findings/recommendations to cross-functional teams.
Prepare and draw on analysis to support business decisions and communicate
technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Encourage organizational usage of marketing information. Reduce complex
data into more simple forms; communicate to current/potential users.
Recommend improvements in web marketing and email marketing.
• Staff Management – Supervise and mentor a team of 2: a reporting analyst
and an email specialist. Ensure a high level of performance through delegation,
training, skills development and cross-training.
• Management –Help manage third party vendor relationship
• Other projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Customer Relationship Management
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and COMPETENCIES
• BA or BS in a quantitative or related field
• 4-6 years in marketing analytics, database marketing, direct marketing,
consumer catalog and/or multi-channel marketing fields; 2+ years marketing
analytics experience is a must
• Solid understanding of relational databases and database marketing techniques;
well versed in SEM and PPC concepts
• Highly skilled in marketing analytic software packages such as Business Objects,
Cognos, Microstrategy; statistical packages such as SPPS; campaign management and
email management tools such as Unica, SmartFocus, E.piphany, Cheetah Mail, Epsilon
Dream, SilverPop, ExactTarget.
• Experience with web analytics and web analytics tools such as Coremetrics, Webtrends,
Omniture
• 2-3 years experience in managing and/or mentoring staff
• Focused; a self-starter with experience working in a very fast paced environment
• Must be able to work in the US indefinitely without sponsorship
