Title: Graphic Design Intern
Reports to: Senior Graphic Designer
Location: Boston, MA

Elderhostel, the premier non-profit provider of educational adventures for older adults, offers an unpaid
college internship in our Marketing Department in exchange for college credit. This person will gain
experience in the graphic design field while assisting with various design- and production-related

Job Skills & Qualifications:
• Candidate must be a full-time student at an accredited college or university and have a major
or concentration in graphic design. Students in their third or fourth year preferred
• Desire to learn new design and software skills
• Familiarity with QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe PDF applications
• Class work in typography
• Experience with scanning photography
• Willingness to learn photo database software and to assist in archiving photography (digital,
prints and slides)
• Mac platform
• Polished, mature communication skills
• Ability to deliver high quality work; accurate and thorough; highly organized
• Highly motivated and productive with focused personality
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and take direction
• GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred

The Intern will learn about:
• Not-for-profit marketing and graphic design
• The importance of good photography and photo editing in marketing materials
• Design-related issues like schedules, job print production, photo editing, working with writers,
copy editor and project managers
• Internet photo and travel research
• Postal regulations as they relate to design choices
• Making good typography choices
