Do I need to pay
a deposit to register for an Elderhostel program?
Yes. At the time you submit your registration, a deposit is required to
process your request. Of course, if we are unable to enroll you in a program,
we will refund your deposit. More specific information about our cancellation
and refund policies is included on each program detail page.
What happens after I register?
If you register by phone or on-line, you will receive immediate confirmation.
Mail registration will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are accepted into one of your choices, your status will be ENROLLED.
If all of your choices are full, WAIT LISTED. What
is "wait listed" status?
If your preferred program is filled to capacity,
we’ll place you on a wait list in case spaces open up due to withdrawals.
In order to hold your place, we retain your deposit and apply it if/when
you enroll or transfer to another program. If you’d rather transfer
into another program, our customer service staff will work with you to find
the best available option. Of course, if you prefer, we’ll refund
your entire deposit. The choice is yours.
Will I receive a printed receipt after I pay for
my programs?
In an effort to keep costs down, Elderhostel does not mail out receipts
for final payments. You can use your credit card statement, cancelled check,
or logon to your Elderhostel account to print out a payment receipt.
What sort of preparatory materials will I receive?
After you enroll, the Program Coordinator will send you a packet of informative
preparatory materials with details about the program schedule, course content,
travel directions, and other practical advice.
What if I want to cancel or change my enrollment?
Instructions will be included in your confirmation notice.
What if my program is canceled or changed?
In instances when Elderhostel must cancel a program due to circumstances
beyond our control, we will notify you as soon as possible and help you
find an alternative program. Or, if you prefer, we’ll refund your
entire payment.
I would like to attend
a program with a friend who lives at a different address. Can we register
together?
If you are interested in registering with your friend for identical Elderhostel
offering(s), please mail your registration applications together to our
office in the same envelope. Check the top box (box # 1) to indicate that
you wish to attend the program with a friend who resides at a different
address. You may also fax the forms in together with the same criteria to
our toll-free fax number. If you decide to register on-line, simply follow
the instructions given on the online forms.
What
are the choices for accommodations?
From well-appointed city hotels to country inns, from conference and
retreat centers to lodges, cabins aboard vessels, and even safari
tents, Elderhostel accommodations are comfortable, pleasant, and well
suited to the program. Most programs offer single room options, and
almost all accommodations – whether single or double –
offer private bathrooms.
