BOSTON, March 16—With St. Patrick’s Day upon us and Summer right around the corner, there’s no better time to visit enchanting Ireland. Elderhostel, the nation’s oldest and leading educational travel non-profit, is offering several exceptional Irish learning adventures over the next few months.

Starting in May, Elderhostelers have a chance to experience Ireland’s lush green countryside while immersing themselves in the Emerald Isle’s long and colorful history. Elderhostel’s mid-May program offers a 13-night walking and hiking adventure through Southwest Ireland, highlighted by visits to Counties Kerry and Clare and ancient routes along the Shannon River.

For those more interested in city life, Elderhostel is showcasing “Theater and Art in Dublin” in July and August. As the nucleus of Irish cultural achievement and the only city to produce three Nobel laureates in literature, Dublin has long been one of the world’s leading cultural destinations. Participants will explore the many aspects of Ireland’s visual and literary art on this nine-night program.

Seafarers can get their own unique perspective on Irish history with a 12-night Adventure Afloat in August. Sailing Ireland’s southern coast and cruising secluded inlets and peaceful harbors, participants will learn the principles of sailing, navigation and steering, with County Cork’s breathtaking coastal and mountain landscapes as the backdrop.

Tales of leprechauns and fairies have entertained people of all ages for centuries. “Folklore & Traditions of Rural Ireland,” a 14-night adventure beginning in late September, offers a unique look at Irish folklore and how it continues to affect Irish communities to this day. Elderhostel is collaborating with educational and cultural institutions in Ireland to offer these once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunities at an exceptional value.
