Elderhostel lifelong learning programs explore the music, food and
language of love
Looking for a Valentine’s Day getaway that combines learning with
romance? The not-for-profit Elderhostel organization is offering unique
educational adventures this February -- and beyond -- that explore some
of the magical key ingredients of romance: wine, flowers, chocolate, and
music.
Lifelong learners can indulge their minds and their senses in the cuisine
of Provence during a food and wine adventure in California; experience
the effects of Broadway love songs on the passions in a Valentine’s
Day sojourn in Santa Fe; and discover the origins of roses as tokens of
love at a program examining love themes in Oregon.
Boston-based Elderhostel, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in
2005, collaborates with educational and cultural institutions around the
country to create these fascinating learning opportunities. Programs range
in length from several nights to about a week, and cost as little as $495,
including daily presentations by local experts, field trips and special
activities; meals and accommodations.
